STR protection
This is general documentation guidance for hosts — not a permit checklist and not a guide to removing a guest.
Booking length and local rules
Some localities restrict stays under a given number of nights. Some state rules treat longer continuous occupancy differently from a short lodging stay. Those two rules can point in opposite directions. A licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction can evaluate how they interact with your facts. This site does not tell you which booking length to offer.
Written occupancy terms
Platform terms of service are a contract with the platform. A separate written occupancy or guest acknowledgment — dated, signed, and stored — is a different record. Documentation is not a shortcut around legal process; it is evidence within it.
Licensing and registration as records
Whether a unit is registered or permitted can become a fact in a later dispute. Keep copies of what you filed and what the locality issued. This page does not tell you which local permit to obtain.
Stay records
Useful records often include identity verification steps you already use, check-in and checkout timestamps, message logs, and a clear end date. Informal off-platform extensions and direct payments can change the paper trail.
